Summer Loving

I have to breeze by Summer of 2010.  Here's a few moments in time from Jude's 1st Summer in this world!

Sizing up Elijah...I think he's got Jude beat in that department.
Look at that smile :)
My precious semi-bald, sweet boy.
Hanging out with our Tennessee family on the 4th of July.
Eating Mommy's Pookie Bear.
Hanging out with Captain Uncle Waller at the Austin Lakehouse.
Love this baby.
Just learned to roll over.
Watching Mom and Dad eat pizza at Impellizzeri's.
Swimming with Kitty.
Strolling in the park.
What a wonderful summer we had.  Sure it was the hottest one ever, Jude didn't sleep much at night, and we were still adjusting as new parents, but it absolutely was the sweetest.  Jude Thomas, we loved spending every second with you.

The Many Faces of Jude 5/6 months

First Vacation

I've already fallen off the blogging wagon...that didn't take very long.  And I'm not really into doing this blog in any sort of chronological way, so I guess I'll jump back to when Jude was six months old, and we went on our first vacation.  Lonnie, me, Jude, Whitney and Waller all went to Swansboro, NC to visit with Waller's Aunt Lisa.  She lives in a beautiful home on the lake, near the beach, and was gracious enough to let us all come down for a week getaway.  I was super nervous about the trip there for several reasons. It was a 12 hour drive (that turned into 14), Jude was at the age where he was just become curious about everything, and I knew sitting in his carseat for that length of time would be difficult, and lastly, I was still breastfeeding and knew I'd have to pull over and feed/pump, and that seemed like it would be difficult to do.  Nonetheless, we were all so ready for this trip.  The first few months back at work were really difficult for me...I was working long hours, Jude was not a very good sleeper, and I just needed a time for relaxing with my family.

We left around 3pm, and Jude took a nap the first 2 hours (yay!).  But, when he woke up, he was ready to get out.  The DVD kept him entertained for a little while.

Soon after, we stopped somewhere in West Virginia and ate dinner at a place that was called Dairy Queen.  But, it definitely was NOT the Dairy Queen we all know...they had the blizzards and ice cream, but the food was terrible!  But Jude got his dinner and he was a happy boy.

He went to sleep soon after that, and the rest of trip there was a breeze, besides a couple wrong turns, pumping on the road, etc...we finally arrived early in the morning!

We had a wonderful time.  Here we are hanging out at Lisa's neighbors where we had some delicious BBQ our first night in town.
And Jude swimming in the neighborhood pool with Kitty.  He loved it!
We went to the beach a few days, and Jude was so intrigued by it.  He wasn't overly joyful at the new experience, but he wasn't fussy either.  He just kind of took it all in...checking it out.  We brought the pack-n-play as the makeshift nap on the go/child container while on the beach.

Here we are hanging out after dinner on a dock.
Napping on Daddy after a long day in the sun.
Don't let this picture fool you...this kid did NOT sleep well on this vacation.  He woke up 3 - 7 times at night wanting to cuddle, feed, drive his Momma crazy.  I'm glad somebody got some R & R.
And wrapping up a great vacation by relaxing on Lisa's dock.
Some big things happened on this vacation...Jude turned 6 months old (we celebrated by giving him an impromptu "happy birthday" at a store that happened to have a bday hat), he had his first real food (carrots!), and Mommy gave Jude his first supplement of formula :( That was really sad for this breastfeeding Mommy. All in all, it was a great first vacation, and we can't wait to have more with our little family.
