Cayman Islands

Two steps forward and two steps back.  I've got to get up to date on this blog.  I'm 10 months behind< and now we have another little one.  I WILL catch up on my maternity leave....must!

Okay, the Cayman Islands - what an awesome vacation it was!  A week in paradise with my family and Debbie (she's family too pretty much) and no agenda, but sunshine and some R&R.  We talked to Jude about riding an airplane, and he was so ready for that.

Super excited to have his own seat.
Ready for take off
Overall, the flying was fine.  But, Jude didn't take a nap on either of the two flights, and when we arrived in the CI, he was a little wired and crazy, and of course, going through customs was so slow, the airport there was a 100 degrees, and Jude was misbehaving just enough for two hot and bothered parents to make it a little too crazy for our liking.  Then we had to get our rentals, shove tons of luggage into little vans, and then go grocery shopping.  We sent the boys and Waller and my Dad on to the resort.  Poor Lonnie was left driving around me, Whitney, Debbie and my Mom, taking us grocery shopping, and cramming a bajillion groceries into our already crammed car.  Anyway, a 30 minute gorgeous drive later, we were at the resort -- and we were already for some pool time!

This kid is fearless in the water, which is a little worrisome when he doesn't have his swimmies on.
He LOVED getting a lift from Daddy.

This pool was gorgeous, and where we spent most of our time.  It was right by the beach (see beautiful ocean view), and elevated enough to get a constant breeze.  And a bar right in the middle.  It was perfect.
Besties.
Baby Waller floating.

Out to dinner at a beautiful restaurant that literally was on top of the ocean.
Our little family.
 The "boys" with the grandparents.
One interesting thing about the CI, there are stray chickens EVERYWHERE.  You'll be walking down the street and see 20 chickens all around you.  And, people I guess don't have fences down there, so they put their cattle on leashes.  There will be a stake in the ground, and a 10 foot leash with a cow ties to it.  Here's one right next to the road.

Another strange animal thing that I did not get pictures of, were the red crabs all over the road!  As we were driving to and from places at nighttime, we saw thousands (no exaggeration) of 6in-12in huge red crabs crossing the street going towards the side of the road where the ocean was.  These were NOT the cute little white crabs you see in Destin, these were seriously big and red.  It was impossible to not hit them driving around, and at first we mourned the death of every red crab we drove over, and then it became a fun game every night trying to dodge the crabs.  The bumping feeling, and crunchy noise is not one I will soon forget.  BUT, when we found out these were mommy crabs taking their baby eggs to the beach to hatch, then we all got a little sad.  We were murdering mommies and babies :(

Anyway....hanging out at the condo.  These two LOVE each other.
One night at the resort there was a party.  It totally reminded me of some scene out of Dirty Dancing, where there's a cheesy DJ, cheesy games, etc.  It was five thousand degrees that night, sheesh.  Check out the condensation on our camera.
But THIS kid danced his heart out the whole night.  It was hilarious.  He was so serious, never smiling, just dancing away.

Making friends with the cutest dressed family ever.  Check out those shoes!
Check out these moves!
Taking a breather.
When we finally ventured into town to do some sightseeing, we went to the turtle farm because we thought Jude would love it.  Another somber moment when we realized the purpose of the turtle farm was to breed them to kill them later in their life.  Kind of like a turtle factory that is open to the public.  And man do these creatures stink!
The baby turtles were pretty much the only ones Jude would touch.
Here he is acting like he wants one in his hand.
This is his reaction when I tried to actually put one in his hand!
There's my brave boy.
Clinging to K Pa and not too sure about it all.
That night was Lonnie and mine's turn to babysit.  Whitney and Waller went out, and we watched the babes.

Just hanging.  Waller was crawling around somewhere!

Our view.
For our date night, I didn't get any pictures of us, but I did get the view from the restaurant.
Phone picture.
And the best cheese tray ever! With lots of wine of course.
The next day we went to a gorgeous beach.
Just floating.
My main man.
Daddy.
Taking it all in.
The hot ladies.
Digging in the sand.
After that beach, Lonnie took us to a little beach that he had been talking about for days as the most beautiful beach ever.  A storm was a brewing, but a few of us decided to appease him and went to this illustrious beach.  When we got there, I gave him a hard time because it looked like every other beach on the CI.  And the weather was getting crazy!

Me, Jude and the "beautiful beach."  Look at my handsome, dark baby.
Later the next night....

And the last night we celebrated what we were all there for - Mimi's 60th 50th birthday!

Jude saying his last goodbye to his girlfriend K Pa found him.

And that's a wrap for Summer 2012 vacation!
